What’s goin’ on…
I got a call from my brother just as I was rolling out of bed Monday at the crack of noon. He wanted the names of the people I interviewed with at his company last week so he could send them a recommendation. (Different division, but still the same big company.) We talked for a bit and when I got off the phone, I went out to my car to get the names (they were still in a folder in the back seat). About an hour after I e-mailed the names to him, they sent me an e-mail. “Unfortunately, … blah blah blah.” You know the drill.
Well, at least they let me know. Most places I’ve interviewed with have just left me hanging.
A couple hours after that, my parents called. They signed the papers. The house is sold. 🙁
I’ve got about 60 days to get all the stuff I left behind out of there. That’s gonna suck. I left A LOT of stuff up there in Maine. Mostly old toys. Lego, Star Wars, GI Joe, model rockets, board games, model trains… I suspect A LOT of it will go straight to eBay. What a pain in the butt though.
We had a cousins’ dinner tonight at Ellie’s house. She made some nice beef stew of some kind. Nice big potatoes in it too and I loved the bread. I’ll have to go pick up some of that to snack on.
My cable modem connection has been pretty unreliable for the past 24 hours or so. I hope it has finally settled down now and will stay connected. During the downtime (and when I didn’t feel like fighting the downtime), I worked on my new AMV a bit more.
It uses footage from…[counts]…21 different anime series, but focuses on three of them. I’ve captured footage for some of them and have worked them in, but I still have a lot to do. Not much in the way of effects, but it just takes time to find the right footage for the right moment in the song. This definitely isn’t a spam-in-a-can video with random footage set to music. When you see it, you’ll understand why I used so many different sources and why I used each one where I did.
The only problem is I have no idea what category it belongs in when I submit it to AMV contests. I’ll probably just throw it in Drama since it’s not Action and since it’s not Comedy. Sure, there are a couple chuckles, but I really don’t see this as a funny video. (It’s definitely less funny than the “Hit Me” video that won Best Drama at Otakon 2001.) So Drama it is, I guess.
BTW Lizz…I’ve already worked in two different Escaflowne clips. Sorry, no Ally. 😉
Anyway, in other news…the job search continues. I renewed my Monster resume again and applied for another few jobs that I could remotely be qualified for. I’m seeing more and more job postings lately, so that’s a good sign that things are starting to turn around. I was laid off just before the 2000 Olympics in Sydney. Hopefully I can start working right after the 2002 Olympics.
I was up in New Hamster on Saturday with the Nashua crew. Had a grand ol’ time visiting, chatting, and playing a game.
Oh…and if you’re an #animedvd regular and missed that crap from last Friday, go check it out.
Thanks to everyone from the IRC channel who has sent e-mail in support. You guys rock.
