Layoffs…again.
Monster usually does layoffs only on Tuesdays…but they let some people go today. Pretty unexpected. Some friends of people in my department too. They seemed to mostly be in Product Management…which doesn’t make a lot of sense to do now…right in the middle of a major product change. (There will be a big site redesign for Monster that goes up around Super Bowl time. First real redesign in about 2.5 years.)
Anyway, there’s speculation that after this release (and a couple other releases) are done at the end of the month that development could be the next department hit. Not sure if that includes us…in Web Services. We’re certainly not overstaffed, but it depends on how much they want to cut, I guess.
Am I concerned? Yep. …but I’m trying not to worry since there’s really not much I can do about it. Worrying wouldn’t do me any good.
