Top 5 Snoke Theories from Star Wars: The Force Awakens

Snoke

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opened a year ago and people have had plenty of time to form theories as to who “Supreme Leader Snoke” is and how he ties into the Star Wars universe. Snoke only appears in Starkiller Base as a hologram, so there’s no way to know for sure how large he actually is or what he might look like.  Here are some of the best theories:

1) Jar Jar Binks

Jar Jar Binks

Although fans have held out hope that Rogue One would confirm he was on Alderaan when it was destroyed, Jar Jar’s fate remains unknown. Maybe he discovered what Obi-Wan did to his buddy, Anakin, and wants revenge on those who allied themselves with him. What a perfect way for him to continue the work of his friend by guiding his grandson.

It wouldn’t be the first time that Jar Jar impersonated someone who was “one with The Force”. He was mistaken for a jedi in the “Bombad Jedi” episode of The Clone Wars while visiting Rodia.

Fans have floated the theory that he might secretly be a sith for a while now. Ahmed Best, the actor behind Jar Jar Binks, has all but confirmed that Jar Jar is actually a sith lord.

2) Kitster

We last saw Kitster in A Phantom MenaceKitster (not counting his appearance in The Star Wars Show‘s holiday special). Most people probably won’t even remember him until you remind them about Anakin’s friend who said, “Wizard!”

It turns out, “Wizard!” might be a clue. What if Snoke is like The Wizard of Oz and is controlling that hologram from behind a curtain? Kitster, as a friend of Anakin, could have similar motivations to those as Jar Jar Binks mentioned above. He wants to continue the work of his childhood friend. Perhaps he has been operating from the shadows all along?

Lucasfilm has kept him in the background all this time, but occasional mentions about Kitster and his appearance in The Star Wars Show may be part of an effort to remind audiences about Kitster in advance of a reveal in Episode VIII.

3) Aunt Beru

Aunt BeruWe last saw her burnt to a crisp by Stormtroopers in A New Hope…or did we? When the Stormtroopers came looking for Luke, she put her plan into action, took out Owen, left a Stormtrooper corpse in place of her own, and ran.  There are other theories about how or why she faked her death out there.

Of course, some fans have also theorized that Owen and Beru Lars were Samsung Galaxy Note 7 users.

Decades later, she could be providing guidance to her step-grandson and the First Order. She’s the person nobody would ever expect as the “deceased” wife of a moisture farmer.

4) Mace Towani

Mace Towani“Who?” What?! You don’t know Mace Towani, protagonist of the actual 7th Star Wars movie, Caravan of Courage? It won an Emmy for Outstanding Special Visual Effects! He was also in the sequel, The Battle for Endor. Mace was a victim of the Sanyassan Marauders…or so we were told.

Mace may have actually survived, escaped from Endor, and sought out revenge on the Sanyassan Marauders. Having slain them, he got a real taste for blood and turned to the Dark Side.

Decades later, having encountered a young Ben Solo, he took him under his wing and used him and the Knights of Ren as his elite soldiers.

5) Lumpy

LumpyLumpy was last seen in The Star Wars Holiday Special.

It should be pretty obvious that he’s one of the clear leading Snoke theories…because, well, I mean it’s just so obvious.

Too obvious, maybe?
