Pita was down yesterday and it seems to be mighty unreliable today. I’ll probably ditch it and write my own stupid blog system before long. It’s not like it’s hard.
Called Apple. They’re sending a nifty new round AC adapter for my PowerBook to replace my current one. Woo!
Anyway… Yesterday, Greg came over with the DeLorean and we were going to go to the mall, but it wouldn’t start. Silly boy had it in first and flooded the engine. We took my car to the hardware store so he could get a spare key made for it.
“What kind of car is it?”
It took them a good 10 to 15 minutes to find a key that was close to the type they needed. Fortunately for Greg, it worked.
At the mall, I was asked to take part in a survey. I thought the girl said it would take “2 to 5” minutes. It turns out it was going to take 25 minutes. Gah! I had to watch a LensCrafters TV commercial asking people, “Are you lucky enough to wear glasses?” I had to tell them why it sucked. At least I got a $5 mall gift certificate out of it.
After Greg got what he wanted for “her” birthday, we headed back to my place, watched the rest of Enterprise, and ate pizza. (Enterprise even ended with pie! Woo hoo!)
After he left, I spent a few hours working on that police department web site…even though I wouldn’t get paid for it. I think I put in a good 10-12 hours total on it. I went to bed at 4am last night and took the phone off the hook.
So this morning, I put the phone back on the hook and called FreakyBoss (since he left two messages on my machine while we were at the mall). I told him I had his site done and would bring it down to him. (The original home page was about 1.4 Mb, but the entire site was 700k when I was done with it!) When I turned on my Mac, I found this e-mail:
|Subject: Pat get off the phone or put it on the hook
Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 09:23:22 -0500
get off the phone or put it on the hook – call me
When he finally got back, he sent me over to talk with some woman at the Parks Department about a web site. The one she has now is sad with only two pages. Apparently he estimated $500 for the new site…without even seeing what her current one was like or knowing what would go on it. $500?! That’s practically giving it away!
I told him I had stuff to do and couldn’t stay and somehow managed to escape. …but as I was typing this, I got another e-mail from the bastard about that stupid animated badge:
|Subject: Ppd web page…
Date: Thu, 8 Nov 2001 15:41:28 -0500
When you add the badge move it right 3/8 to 1/4 inch
…of course, this changes the way I broke out the design of the page, but whatever. As long as it shuts him up.
I’d link to the site from here, but I don’t want him to see my blog in the referrers. Sorry about that, but I’m already paranoid about him spying on me.
