Ted the Junior Technician was begining to get impatient. Here he was, his first day after graduating technician school, assigned to the brand new mechanical dino head, and this ... this friggin' prima donna was holding everything up!
As he strolled into the studio, carrying a small white cat on a velvet cushion, Ted was roused from his thoughts by the shrill voice of the agent calling out, "The Divine Ms. Fluffy will perform now, you lucky peasants."
This set is so unusual, I don't even know where to begin reviewing it. It's a spectacular example of creature building and a very unique and creative idea for a set, but a little limited as a toy.
The model is, as the pictures show, a big T-rex head on a Technic beam, attached via pin to a rotating base. On the base is a small control panel for the operator. The set includes a technician mini-fig, a baby dinosaur piece, a white kitten, and a female mini-fig who looks exactly like the female from the Adventurers sets. However, she has a safari hat here instead of her usual pilot's helmet, that shows that her hair is only painted on the sides. This unfortunately makes her flowing tresses look more like huge sideburns.
The actual dino head itself is pretty great, but then I don't have a lot of Lego dino heads to compare it do. It consists of a nice variety of green slopes, and bricks, with a few black, white, and red to define the mouth. There's not really any terribly unique pieces here, but there's a few I bet you don't have in green, like the boat-like piece that forms the lower jaw.
All in all, it's a pretty good set. The main model is fun to build, but it's play possibilities seem fairly limited. That might just be me not having any town sets for him to terrorize. It has a good part count and variety and is an interesting model to build, plus it gets at least one extra point for creativity.
