Deep within the sea, the predator waits. Hiding behind a rock, it waits. In the distance a sub can be seen, possibly a surviving Aquanaut.
As the ship settles into the sand Thresher can see a man coming out of the sub. He waits until the timing is just right and then he blasts off in his arrowdynamic sub. He gets the magnet arm ready for use. He goes over the sub and leaves...with a box and a powerful crystal inside!
The last remaining Aquanaut spots that the crystal is missing but his problems are getting worse...he has no more crystals and knows he will soon run out of oxygen -- no thanks to the Deep Sea Predator
Why the Lego company didn't expand on the Aquasharks will always be beyond me. They have in my opinion the best sets around, especially the Deep Sea Predator.
The set is a medium sized sub that is used for stealing as many crystals as possible from the unsuspecting Aquanauts. This set is very arrowdynamic looking. It has a sloping translucent-orange shield in front and a solid black (very COOL) shield in the back. The front section has room to fit one man quite comfortably. The middle area has two handles to hold daggers and two arms. One arm has a pincer at the end and the other has a magnet. I still don't quite understand why lego didn't keep this idea. The Shark's Crystal Cave was the last set to feature these arms. Now we get suction cups to grab crystal-filled boxes...yipee!
Anyway, back to the set. The back section is for holding crystals or the translucent-orange boxes with or without crystals. The very back has a propeller. The top of the sub also has a fin sticking up with the Aquashark logo on it, which looks nice.
The cool or unique pieces include the fin (as mentioned above), the solid black shield, and the two arms.
I find that there are no cons to this set, but something says to me thats this is not a true classic which is why I will give it 4 stars, not 5.
