6899 You're on a mission across the galaxy and have been assigned to explore a planet; and since exploring a planet is no small feat, you'll need a temporary base of operations. The Nebula Outpost is such a base.
The base features things no Explorien would be caught dead without. The base is transportable thanks to the light power thrusters on the bottom of the base. There's a small magnetic arm to use to pick up fossils and a scanner to examine them with. Downstairs, you'll also find a communications console for contacting your commanders back home. Upstairs, you'll find a telescope and related equipment. Enough for an adequate temporary base of operations.

From the appearance on the front of the box, the Nebula Outpost looks like a pretty good set. There's a couple mini-figures, some neat features, and a nice tall structure. Unfortunately the negative aspects outweigh the positive.
Though you might not notice before you buy the set, there is no baseplate. The entire structure rests on four satellite-dish pieces. When the set is moved, at least one of them will usually fall off. There's also no room inside for mini-figures...actually there's not even an "inside" since there isn't much for walls. The entire center is occupied by columns to hold up the roofs. Two of the sides on the bottom fold down...why they do is beyond me. The clear blue sections on the top open up so that the mini-figures can be squeezed in. On the bottom, there are the typical Exploriens scanners and magnet. Unfortunately they are located on pitifuly small arms and can't reach more than an inch from the station. The top of the set can rotate around and the telescope can aim up and down.
This is one of the poorest designs of a Lego set I have seen in a long while. It appears they just wanted to use up an excess supply of curved wall pieces. Unless you're trying to collect all the Exploriens sets, I'd steer clear of this one.
