Lego Maniacs' Guide: Reviews: Pirates : Soldiers : Harbor Sentry

[Purchase Lego at Amazon.com] 6245 - Harbor Sentry

Rating: 3 Stars
Pros: Good for another Soldier fig, cannon, and rowboat; the boat is roomier than it looks
Cons: Rowing a cannon some place doesn't seem too practical. A small sail would have been better.
Contents: 24 pieces including 1 mini-fig
Price: Discontinued

6245 The commander of the Dutch naval fleet was coming to England to discuss matters with the General of the Royal Navy of Britain. His ship, the Caribbean Soul, dispatched the small rowboat in which the commander was to row to shore in.
When he was fifty yards away from the naval headquarters, a cannonball erupted from the deserted ruins of a two century old fort. An asassination attempt! Without warning, the Caribbean Soul directed a storm of cannon balls at the Royal Navy's headquarters.

As the smallest set of the Soldier line, you probably wouldn't expect much from the Harbor Sentry and that assumption would be right. It is a small rowboat with one soldier. The main feature is the cannon mounted on a 4x4 turntable in the rear of the boat. The cannon can swivel, but not very far. Its path is blocked by the Soldier flag on one side and the soldier himself on the other.
In front of this cannon is a seat made of two 1x2 plates and a 2x4 plate. The soldier sits here and rows. In front of that is a 2x2 plate that holds six cannon balls.
The accessories included are a cutlass, pistol, and two oars. That is the entire set.
Although it is a very tiny set, there are some good aspects, one being that it is far roomier on the inside than it looks. The other is that it has a lot of nifty pieces like the cannon, soldier, flag, and rowboat. Buy it just for these pieces and you're set.
