Lego Maniacs' Guide: Reviews: Pirates : Islanders : Crocodile Cage

[Purchase Lego at Amazon.com] 6246 - Crocodile Cage

Rating: 1 Stars
Pros: I like the specialized animal pieces. When do we get a giant snake, or better yet, a man-eating gorilla to invade some of the Paradisa hangouts?
Cons: Price is kind of high (twelve cents per element, come on, Lego!)
Contents: 56 pieces including 2 figures, 1 parrot, and 1 crocodile
Price: $6.39 - Discontinued

6246 Since dawn the hungry reptile has kept a beady eye on Taffy the pirate. Seemingly lazy but with an evil glint and wary gleam in that eye, the only thing between Taffy and long rows of VERY pointy teeth are a few bamboo bars (relatively little separating an unarmed man and his own mortal end).
From time to time an islander sentry returns to the cage to see that Taffy has not escaped or that the giant croc has not had an early start on breakfast. With an entire evening to ponder the circumstances that led him here, Taffy has learned the sad lesson that one should never try to pick the pocket of a guy with grass britches.

The crocodile cage is pretty obviously just a piece pack but I picked it up because I had purchased the King Kahuka set and Hukey was in much need of a follower/minion so I picked up the cage. It is also the smallest set you can buy that comes with a crocodile as far as I know.
What you see is what you get here: a few bricks, a pirate, parrot, crocodile (or is it an alligator?), and a well-armed native.
The only semi-interesting pieces here are two 1x4x3 wall sections, the 4x4 hinged roof plate and the transparent orange "fire" element. It is also worthy to note that the pirate comes with a saber and musket (just in case he escapes to wreak havoc, I suppose).
I'm sure you're thinking, "What's the point of doing a review on this?" and for the amount of money they are asking for the set, I don't think it is worth six bucks plus. If you catch it on clearance, I think it would be worth it to buy two or three sets and get a nice gang (gaggle, herd, school? whatever) of crocs built up.
