6746 On a quest for the outcast warrior-chief, Silver Elk, the brother and sister begin climbing the enormous flat hill long before the sun rises and are still climbing by midday. Spine tails and serpents are cautiously avoided as the two continue their climb, lifting and helping each other through the more difficult passages. At last, the sun is almost down and they are near the top when they hear the thrum of a ceremonial drum. A few more steps and a tepee covered in sacred symbols comes into view. An elder man sitting cross-legged at the drum pauses from his rhythmic playing.
"Ah," his music-less sullen voice intones, "I knew you would come. Approach my children and we shall discuss the matter of the dark evil that even now threatens your village."

The chief's tepee is a great starter set for someone that just wants a taste of the new Wild West sub-theme of Indians. There's the tepee, Indian equipment, and if you find a sale shaving just a few dollars off of the $20.00 price, I would suggest you pick one up.
The tepee is situated on a half-size baseplate (16x32) with the tepee on one half and a small lump of rocks (concealing a small compartment for snakes or weapons) and a stream at the other end. A short totem pole is mounted on the pile of rocks. The tepee cloth is different from the one found in the 6748 Boulder Cliff Canyon set, this one sporting a jumping horse imprint while the other has a buffalo headdress (shields in both sets come with each of these motifs). In mentioning the 6748 set, I wasn't too crazy about the totem pole there (too flimsy), but while the totem for the Chief's Tepee is smaller I find I like it better as it is more sturdy and blends different colors throughout the post well.
Mini-figs include two pony-tailed Indians and the chief (new face and torso print which means there are a total of five different Indian faces and body prints if I count correctly). Most of the new Indian elements are found here including the new chief headdress piece. There are two of each weapon and, again, a few pin and clip-on feathers. I don't think I mentioned it in the last review but the tree trunk piece does not have studs in the base (like early space crater plates didn't have studs inside the crater bases) and it's great how they've contoured the roots to snap onto a plate without looking like it's supposed to (i.e., with lots of square angles).
If this set were only a few dollars less, I would strongly suggest it to only half interested buyers. It is a nice set.
