The Archaeopteryx Class Space Fighter was designed with a wing style similar to that of Earth's first bird, the Archaeopteryx. It is designed to be a high-speed, quick response, armed space fighter.
The cockpit of the Archaeopteryx seats one pilot and one passenger. In combat, the passenger's station can be operated by a weapons officer. Underneath the cockpit are two high-intensity lights. They double as personal flashlights when detached.
Behind the cockpit are two storage areas. On the left side is a small compartment with double doors for added security. On the right side is a larger compartment for objects up to the size of one android.
Above these storage areas are small laser turrets. They are of medium capacity.
Behind the storage areas is a large weapons bay. When armed, the weapons bay doors swing open and bring the weaponry into view. On the right side is a high capacity dual pulsar cannon. It is capable of penetrating 10 inches of tritanium armor plating. On the left side is a 2-foot magneto-amplification emitter ray. It is a new design that is capable of damaging an enemy's onboard computers. If needed, it can be operated on low power and used as a tractor beam.
Behind the weapons bay are impulse thrusters for low-speed maneuvers. They can also aid in high-speed turns.
In the rear of the craft is a single, large hyperdrive engine. The engine can easily be ejected in the event of an emergency.
